Erythropoiesis | 3D Life Cycle of Red Blood Cells | Bone Marrow Animation
Animated in 6 stages, from stem cell to mature red blood cell
This 3D medical animation breaks down erythropoiesis in 6 stages, showing how red blood cells form inside the bone marrow from a hematopoietic stem cell to a mature erythrocyte. Made by CDI Studio.
What Is Erythropoiesis?
Erythropoiesis is the biological process by which red blood cells are produced inside the bone marrow. It is one of the most continuous processes in the human body, generating approximately 2 million new red blood cells every second.
The Life Cycle of a Red Blood Cell
The process begins with a hematopoietic stem cell in the bone marrow. Through six distinct differentiation stages, the cell matures, changes shape, and loses its nucleus before entering the bloodstream as a fully functional red blood cell.
The six stages are: Hematopoietic Stem Cell, Proerythroblast, Basophilic Erythroblast, Polychromatophilic Erythroblast, Orthochromic Erythroblast, Reticulocyte, and mature Red Blood Cell.
About This Animation
This 3D medical animation by CDI Studio visualizes the complete erythropoiesis pathway. Each differentiation stage is rendered with anatomical precision inside a cross-section of the bone marrow, with a parallel view of the bloodstream showing mature RBCs in circulation. Produced for hematology education and life sciences visualization.
